Styling to sell.. Kids bedrooms
When styling homes for sale, it is so important to consider who is likely to buy the property. For homes with multiple bedrooms, one can assume that a family with small children or teenagers are likely to purchase the property. Therefore, styling all bedrooms for just the adults in mind, disregards the reality that children will also occupy some of the bedrooms.
While potential buyers are often attracted to the living, dining, kitchen and outdoor areas of a house, they must also be wowed by the bedroom spaces. These home buyers will also need to consider the bedrooms where their children will not only sleep, but also spend time relaxing, reading, studying and playing.
At Serene Styling, we delight in styling bedrooms for the younger age group as we get to tap into our inner child and be extra creative. The possibilities are endless and we share some of our styling tips on how we style kids bedrooms for sale:
Create a Theme
Adding a theme to a kids bedroom creates a cohesive and balanced look. However, using too many colours or patterns can make a room feel overwhelming and busy. Sticking to a maximum of three colours including white, leads to a well co-ordinated colour scheme. It’s also best to stay away from sticking to the same character or design motif as it can come across as too matchy-matchy and forced.
Fill the Void
Many bedrooms often have irregular shapes or are just plain long. For these rooms, we ensure that we fill the void and empty spaces. To create a sense of fun and playfulness, we add kids furniture and accessories such as a small table and chairs and a bookshelf. A tee-pee with multiple cushions and a cute rug adds cosiness and colour.
Nurseries
Nurseries don’t always have to be styled using a traditional pink or blue colour scheme. Styling gender neutral nurseries using neutral colour palettes are classy and appeal to both genders.
Tween and Teens
Using black and white as a colour base is a perfect colour combination for older children. Adding a pop of colour such as green, mustard or brown adds a sense of sophistication and class for the tween and teen market.
A well styled children’s bedroom is a must when selling homes for sale. The young ones will also remember their favourite spaces and bedrooms and their pulling power should not be underestimated. And you know you’ve appealed to the little ones when they see the kids bedroom and they say “This is my room!”
